TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — In a significant development, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has successfully captured the No. 1 fugitive from Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List.
Victor Hugo Chox Gonzalez, a 38-year-old criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended in Fort Worth earlier today by DPS Special Agents and subsequently booked into the Tarrant County Jail.
Chox Gonzalez was wanted for severe charges including aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact. His capture comes just over a week after Governor Greg Abbott launched the list aimed at apprehending the most dangerous criminal illegal immigrants in Texas.
Chox Gonzalez has a significant criminal history and deep ties to Tarrant County, encompassing the cities of Pantego and Arlington. In 2016, he was convicted of driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
That same year, Chox Gonzalez was removed from the United States. However, his criminal activities did not cease.
In 2021, he was arrested in Tarrant County for assault and failure to identify/give false/fictitious information. He managed to bond out of jail but later that year, warrants were issued for his arrest due to his failure to identify/give false/fictitious information and failure to identify as a fugitive.
His criminal record escalated in 2023 when the Arlington Police Department issued warrants for his arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Despite his capture, a Crime Stoppers reward will not be paid in Chox Gonzalez’s arrest. Funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to individuals who provide information that leads to the arrest of any of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants.
To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of the following methods: call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submit a web tip through the DPS website, or submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link under the “About” section.
According to the source, all tips are anonymous, and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
DPS Special Agents collaborate closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend criminal illegal immigrant fugitives and select those who appear on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. The current lists, complete with photos, can be found on the DPS website.
