Oxnard Police Seize Thousands of Illegal Fireworks from Meat Market

Oxnard authorities took swift action on Tuesday night, seizing thousands of illegal fireworks allegedly being sold at Fierro’s Meat Market on South C Street.

Responding to reports, police discovered over 3,000 fireworks weighing about 30 pounds, including both safe-and-sane varieties and more hazardous types like large mortar-style fireworks.

Ahead of the Fourth of July, Oxnard has intensified efforts to curb illegal fireworks, emphasizing fines ranging from $250 for safe-and-sane items to $1,000 for dangerous fireworks like mortars and firecrackers.

Last year, the city received over 891 fireworks-related complaints in June alone, with police preparing for potential disturbances on July 4th through targeted patrols and drone surveillance to pinpoint hotspots of illegal activity.
