JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) – Governor Mike Parson recently highlighted the successful conclusion of Missouri’s Southern Border Deployment. As Executive Order 24-03 expires, the Governor praised the efforts and outcomes achieved during this months-long operation.
Governor Parson issued Executive Order 24-03 on February 20, activating up to 200 Missouri National Guard members and 22 Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers. This deployment was in support of Texas border security operations and Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star mission.
The multi-agency Operation Lone Star effort, supported by Missouri and other states, has made significant impacts. To date, the operation has apprehended over 513,000 illegal immigrants and arrested more than 43,000 criminals. This includes more than 38,400 felony charges.
One of the critical achievements of the mission was the seizure of over 488 million lethal doses of fentanyl.
According to the source, Governor Parson emphasized the severity of this amount, noting that it could potentially kill every man, woman, and child in both the United States and Mexico.
Missouri National Guard (MONG) soldiers were stationed near Eagles Pass, Texas. Their involvement was crucial in reducing daily illegal immigrant encounters from more than 4,000 to less than 300. MONG soldiers also played a significant role in capturing five individuals on the terrorist watch list.
Governor Parson expressed his gratitude and pride in the accomplishments of Missouri’s deployment, underscoring the importance of this mission for national security and public safety. The collaboration between Missouri and other states demonstrates a united effort to address border security challenges.
