In Celina, Texas, a man was arrested after being caught on camera stuffing liquor bottles down his pants in a local store. This incident has brought attention to a string of thefts reported by liquor store owners in the area.
Surveillance footage from Local Spirits Texas on South Preston Road captured the man in the act last Wednesday.
The video, also shared by A1 Locksmith, shows the store clerk noticing the man’s suspicious behavior. Acting quickly, the clerk texted the management, urging them to contact the police while he stalled the man at the counter.
The man, identified as 38-year-old Emmanuel Jackson, eventually returned the liquor bottles to the clerk and attempted to leave the store. However, before he could drive away, Celina police officers arrived on the scene. Jackson tried to flee on foot but was soon tackled by the officers not far from the parking lot.
According to the source, Cameron East, the owner of Local Spirits Texas, expressed gratitude for the swift response by the Celina Police Department.
“We are happy to have such a great police department here in Celina that is super responsive,” East said. He also mentioned receiving multiple messages from other liquor store owners across North Texas, who applauded the police and the store’s surveillance footage for finally bringing the individual to justice.
Collin County court records indicate that Jackson has been charged with theft and evading arrest. This incident underscores the importance of vigilant store staff and responsive law enforcement in curbing theft and ensuring community safety.
