Over the weekend, Ventura and Moorpark communities were rocked by two separate incidents resulting in tragic deaths. In Ventura, Jonathan Sanchez, a 35-year-old resident, fell victim to a fatal shooting on Saturday night.
As per vcstar Authorities responded to a call reporting gunfire on West Simpson Street, where Sanchez was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts from emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The assailant, described as clad in black, fled the scene, leaving Ventura Police Department investigators to work swiftly in piecing together details of the isolated incident.
Meanwhile, in Moorpark, the community mourns the loss of Luis Morales, an 88-year-old resident who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run on Highway 118.
The incident occurred late Sunday night, prompting a response from California Highway Patrol (CHP) after reports of a body found near Montair Drive. Morales, found with severe injuries consistent with a vehicle collision, was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts to save him.
