Man Arrested in Oxnard Teen’s Death
Oxnard, CA — A 29-year-old Oxnard man, Jose Alberto Salazar, was arrested Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in April.
Salazar, who was already in Ventura County jail for an unrelated felony vandalism offense, is now facing additional charges, including murder and gun-related offenses, according to the Oxnard Police Department and jail records.
The shooting occurred on the night of April 15, when authorities discovered the 17-year-old victim, Miguel Angel Garcia, with a single gunshot wound to the head. Garcia was found in a vehicle near the intersection of Yucca and F streets, a residential area in south Oxnard.
He was immediately transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. This tragic incident marked Oxnard’s fourth homicide of the year.
Investigators later identified a second crime scene a little over a quarter-mile away, in the 4200 block of South G Street, where evidence of the shooting was found. Salazar is now being held on $2.16 million bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court Tuesday morning for his most recent arrest.
